A Preacher's Advice Poem by Joseph T. Renaldi

A Preacher's Advice

Rating: 5.0

Turbulent events brought anguish to a man
Causing intense sorrow in a peculiar way.
With emotional reaction, he went to a parsonage
And was greeted by an amicable preacher this day.

He told the preacher that his burden in life
Was more than he could bear -
Quickly, the preacher calmly said,
' Fortify your daily life with constant prayer.'

For many anxious days he prayed extensively,
' Lord, take these heartaches away from me.'
He remembered the words stated by the preacher
That a firm belief in prayer is the key.

Eventually he was overcome with an inner peace
That overcame his anxiety and despair.
He was thankful for the preacher's advice,
Assuring him that life is fortified through prayer.
