A Portal Poem by David Harris

A Portal

Rating: 5.0

Walking along a sandy shore I found
a portal to an alternative world
where futures took a different turn.
I ventured into see what my life might have been
and what paths along it lead me.
As I slipped through it visions encircled my head,
feelings of love hate and sorrow were soon to follow.
As I tumbled down and down
wondering where I was going.
Slowly the darkness gave way to light
and below me green pastures lay
filled with peace and harmony.
I closed my eyes awaiting
for me to touch the ground,
but it never happened.
When I opened my eyes
I found myself lying in my bed
and around me nothing had changed.
The portal was but a dream
to keep me going on
with the things dear to my heart,
an illusion of my time to come.
