A Poet's Dream Poem by Padma Devkota

A Poet's Dream

Rating: 5.0

I dreamt (please keep it hushed)
of a ripply mirror where the image of the sky
dropped a question mark: 'Who is? Who is? '
And the mirror said: "Sky is! Sky is! "
Narcissus, where is thy love?

I dreamt of beauty drowning in the pond
where I, a poet in love with all that is beautiful,
found attachments too heavy to relinquish.
So, I drowned myself in the life-giving waters
of the beautiful world. Amen.

O wait! It was Truth I really was after.
(Please don't tell anyone this.)
The sky in the ripples of the water said:
"Beauty is Bliss."

Thank you for sharing this poem with a philosophical message. You appear to be following the poetic traditions of the renowned 19th century poet with the same surname who wrote the first Nepali epic 'Ramayana' (I am not sure of the title of the epic poem) . Thanks, Padma Pd. ji.
