A Poet In The Style Of Kipling Poem by Francis Duggan

A Poet In The Style Of Kipling

A poet in the style of Kipling he pens such readable rhyme
Yet the literary critics dismiss him saying he is not one of our time
This is the 21st century the age of the modern poet
A poet in the style of Kipling nowadays not worthy of note,
Gone are the days of the rhymer and of the old balladeer
Old style poets and songwriters nowadays so few wish to hear,
Nowadays at poetry recitals the modern poets take the stage
They are the poets now that matter the major poets of our age,
The poet in the style of Kipling in his own right may be great
But he is one out of fashion his type of verse out of date
Sadly to say out of fashion everything does have it's time
Sometime in the nineteen fifties we read of the death of rhyme
And the poet in the style of Kipling is one who will never know fame
But then nothing does last forever and nothing ever stays the same.
