A Poem For Unsung Flowers Poem by ROOP REKHA BHASKAR

A Poem For Unsung Flowers

Rating: 5.0

Outspread with vibrant colors,
Like flamingo dancers in spectacular pose;
The Birds Of Paradise, seems majestic,
On a flight to the heavens!
Laughing in assorted colors, the Asters,
Like splattered arcs of rainbows;
Attractive and tinted, they wrap over walks;
In Greek, you are a Beautiful Star.

Standing tall, Jack- In-The- Pulpit, marked in black and white stripes;
What a Zebra mock up! She could beckon a second look.
As white as a dove, a pinnacle of purity.
If braided, the Blood Roots are like clouds on a bower.
The Blue stars in rich thickets, nodding without a chime,
Exotic as a crown, for a May Day queen.

Lady Stratheden and Mrs Bradshaw!
Petite, pretty and dotting the green foliage;
You recline enchanting, as on a painted canvas.
A spread of heart shaped purple dollops;
Like icicles of wine hanging on a prostrate stream.
You are red not, and bleed not; yet Bleeding Heart you are!

When the sun kissed Balloon flower pops!
She opens startling Purple, violet, blue and pink.
The Basket of Gold sprawls- amidst rock gardens, tumbling over walls;
Like a sun’s rays cascading down the path.
Garden Mums, like all great mothers, is one-of-a kind,
Passionate, distinctive and divine;
And emerge tranquil in a water bowl,
With a candle in the midst - sublime!

Bat Flowers, Beard Tongue, Bloody Butcher and Black Eyed Susans!
Your menacing names, sorrows my heart.
Your radiance lacquers the landscape to glitter.
You deserve to be rechristened;
With glorious sensuous themes.
.

Blue Himalayan poppies, your blissful stance mesmerizes the inner being;
Mystical in nature’s bounty, are you flying the Birds of Paradise?
I am flaked with the Dalmatian Toadflax,
You are nowhere close to a mammal or amphibian;
Orange, Red blooms stand upright, in oblivion…
The Chocolate Flowers is anyone’s delight,
Velvety dark and chocolate scented;
Ornamental, you sway in cosmic summer;
Attracting species and gazers, enchanted.

Oh you Impatient Flower! Thriving under shades,
You shoot too soon for all to see,
Like vibrant silk threads parade;
For season’s long; carpeted beneath trees.
Creeping Phlox displays a riot of lavenders;
Clambering over slopes, and rambling over rocks;
The blanket of camouflage can stop one in their tracks.
.
Love is always matched with Red and measured with a Rose
Why can’t this passion, for blue be proposed?
And present pretty little Forget –Me-Not’s
As all True lovers unite and knot! !

Felt like a butterfly that fluttered into a new garden, some flowers familiar and some unfamiliar.

Like an avid Botanist, you have identified, classified and studied in detail many flowers and their beautiful features! Many of them are unfamiliar to me! Still I feel lost in a sprawling garden of wonderful flowers and feasting on their radiance and fragrance! Really enjoyed! A 10
