A Paradise In Ruins Poem by Alanna 14110168

A Paradise In Ruins

Peaceful running waters
A breath-taking river, boiling and running
Birds chirping in the healthy trees
Cobwebs glisten like a 1st Prize trophy
Blood-red flowers, standing in the river, guard the small stream
Wind strokes my hair
Butterflies kiss the flowers
Fruit is blossoming
Even rats are welcome
Everything is perfect...
...What's this?
Foul trash
Pollution tortures the trees and flowers
Leaves, once green and full of life, are now brown and frail
The waters might've tasted like the Kleenex on the branch
If your lips even touched the water, you'd probably...
...Die
Nature mourns for the loss of the brave soldiers and friends
A lone butterfly, perches down on the rocky staircases,
Lowers its gentle head,
And praises Mother Earth that it's not yet dead.
What has man done to Earth?
