A Pact Made Poem by pauline miller

A Pact Made

A leisurely wind blows her soft breath
Like crystal water refreshing me
Creating a tranquil scene.

As the pool sleeps her deep sleep
The fish jump and fly at will
Pearls of dew light the trees in this quiet world.

One can hear the fall of a leaf
A wispy willow reaches up and floats on high
Waving to the milky way lit with silver.

In a quiet world of wonder
I walk the midnight world
Seeking the pearl of my heart.

All that remains is her handkerchief
Marked with perfume and tear stains
And a love forbidden.

The autumn days are upon me
Turning my hair to white
My cottage given up to the web of the spider.

I must make haste, for soon
It will be the season of the wilted flower
And she will be waiting.

A pact made long, long ago
In the spring of our youth
When all was love.

Soon, the north wind will beckon us
And we must be ready
To sail the silver sea of heaven.
