A Novel In The Making? Poem by Harriet James

A Novel In The Making?

Novelty of masquerade
Soon wears off

Masked Ball is over
We are not in Venice

Alone I travel
With my guide on gondola

Imagining happenings
Beyond venetian blinds

Short and brief, but has a great depth of meaning; there is a laconic aspect of despair running through this, as if the joy of life has ended the night before. A dark contemplative read
