A Note Poem by Lydia Shivley

A Note

Hey! Remember these notes we used to send each other? Love notes, sad notes, I'm sorry notes, your forgiven notes. Remember the excitement we used to have looking forward to the reply? The notes saying, 'Don't worry, one day...'
The notes that you still keep in two folders and read every once in a great blue moon. The notes that you gave up on and quite answering back.
The notes I miss reading at night, in class, and in the morning. The notes I miss answering back to and awaiting your reply. The notes I miss writing and folding and putting in your hand.
The notes that don't exist anymore and I don't know why. Do you remember those notes, as I do?
