A Night Of Incantations Poem by Bayo Adebowale

A Night Of Incantations

Rating: 1.5

MALEVOLENT INCANTATIONS
Excerpts:
The water inside palmoil pit
Swirls in ripples of confusion...
Kerikeri drum
Submits to constant walloping
From the eager hands of drummers...
Endless opening and closing
Jams the entrance door
All resolutions taken by the squirrel
Are wiped off with its own swinging tail
The grass cutter throws away
With his two hands
All divinations
He prepares for his own grandfather.

A NIGHT OF INCANTATIONS
When the snail defecates
It wipes the mess on the ground
With Its own chest. _
When the tortoise urinates
It cleans the puddle on the floor
With its own belly.
The missile thrown to the palmtree
Comes back hitting the thrower on the nose.

I admire the imageries, they attest to Sir Bayo Adebowale’s literary potency
