A New Beginning. A Year Begins. Poem by Ananta Madhavan

A New Beginning. A Year Begins.

Rating: 4.5

Inaugurate what you cannot finish.
To begin anew is hope, to urge you on,
Continually, though you may suspect
The end is not for reaching.
It is not the goal, the prize, the applause
Of friend or fan or foe or rival or unknowns.
The inaugural is all you need -
That is the hope that can't be quenched,
An aspiration, not the finish, or
A line to sprint past, an end,
Accomplished and extinguished.

To begin anew brings new hope and a new zest to life! We may not always reach the end, but to start the journey itself is promising! The inaugural therefore is more exciting than the finish! Once the end is accomplished, the zest is extinguished! Quite philosophical! Enjoyed reading!

Thanks again, Valsa, our widely ranging Poet Member, for spending time on others' verses and commenting with favour on something worth noting in our life, our times, our world as we re-interpret it. My latest posting was a slightly revised version of what I had written in 2011, when we moved from our house to an apartment as some do, because of urban conditions or security concerns. Still, it is good to exchange perceptions, so do draw my eye to any new offering to PH that you recommend reading; if it is your own, all the better, AM
