A New Beginning Poem by Daniel Sims

as the sun sets, and day is at end,
it's time to stop trying, and time to pretend,
the gut feeling you tried to conceal,
is now revealed, i no longer feel.

that gut feeling of it'll never work,
turns out it's true, my minds a cirque,
i should've trusted my mind as true,
but i thought i loved you, in fact i do.

so the sun sets and the dark fills in,
but tears do not fall, instead i grin,
in the knowledge that when the sun rises,
a new beginning, with new surprises.
