A New Beat Poem by Hazel Durham

A New Beat

Rating: 5.0

Why do love songs always end in tears?
Why does change initially fill us with so many fears?
Why does our loved ones have to go?
Why, oh why do they leave us without their special comfort and love?
All part of our family show,
Why is the big question.

In our daily lives we see too many sides,
To every situation,
There is no definitive answer,
Only the life we have lived,
With change the defining point,
Change is about releasing the old

And looking forward with a heart so bold,
We're in society's fold,
But if we gather our independence
And step out of the herd mentality,
To climb the high fence,
To a brighter, sunnier land,

Where the wind is the harmony of a traditional band,
We sink down into the fine, soft sand,
Living life like we have wings,
Our voices rise to sing,
In this new mindset,
Like we have met

Our truest love,
We weep for our dearest ones,
They shine down on us from clear, blue skies,
Watching with their love that breaks society's lies,
As we march out of step,
To a new beat,

Where love is true not just a fleeting treat,
But a lifelong bond,
As we now live happily on our street.

I believe you and I are very fortunate Hazel. We do not request anything but a new beat. We have climbed many mountains and appreciate the simplest things. We do often ask WHY, yet really, we know the answers. Adore your work.

Yes, continue to live in a land of happiness where love is not a fleeting treat, but a life long bond! A song of love's fulfillment! Enjoyed!

For me this is a great poem about being brave enough to change and so find love - marching to a new beat with a step different from those around and climbing the high fence. My favourite lines which could stand alone as a quote are: 'Change is about releasing the old And looking forward with a heart so bold' A great read for anyone needing a spot of bravery to find love.

In literature tragedy has always dominated. Sweetest are the songs that end in tears.
