A Motherless Day Poem by Gautam Sen

A Motherless Day

Rating: 5.0

Do you remember this day on last occasion?
Your Mom being placed just in front of
a big question of survival, poised before her
with feelings of some false somber solace.
Somehow being spirited with her pure soul
could let you feel she still remained your loving
Mom. But being the cantilever of the bridge of
your sweet relation, I wept in silent droplets
not dropping before you, just getting me soggy
inside with woes of a feared, painful loss ahead.

Did you gift her with a cute little present?
Or just your presence delighted her soul,
engulfed and enlightened with the fillings
of your love and dear touch as she always
kept herself proud and wanted her forever
to say 'You my loving priceless possession! '
Recall your Mom smiling at your success,
bring those moments back alive in vision
to transmit your mission of virtue yonder.

Assemble together near her resting image
of smiling stares always aimed at us beneath;
you utter some loving words of your heart
to greet her on the brink of a graceful day.
Place your loving touch on the tomb of
her memories, just allow it to vibrate and
let you celebrate another Mother's Day -
Oh! On such a vacant Motherless Day!

[ It was written on the Mothers' Day in the year 2005, and for my children it was the first motherless day on this great day - she passed away in October,2004.]

On such a vacant Motherless Day! no, Gautam, it's not a motherless day, not with this work, not with your soul vibrating on the tomb of her memories...this is remarkable; lifts me to that space we all long for - peace
