A Monkey On The Roof Poem by Pradip Chattopadhyay

A Monkey On The Roof

Rating: 5.0

There came a monkey on the roof
he had this raised in his mind
long stayed in the jungle aloof
was time he met his superior kind.

He tried to charm showing tricks
made all kinds of faces to entertain
they ran after him with sticks
causing him considerable pain.

To make friends only he had come
thinking they would mix freely
offer him a pleasant welcome
and not act as if he was an enemy.

In the ruckus he forgot the road
fleeing from the stones that were thrown
thereby for good losing abode
got no home to claim as his own.

The way we lose respect for our ancestors, man is turning detrimental to his super predecessor. This monkey will teach the man a lesson perhaps.

Poor monkey.... the people should have shown a little more kindness to their ancient ancestor! It is a pleasure watching monkeys from close quarters....! An interesting write!

A thoughtful write. People don't accept one as friend very easily. They dont try to read others intention properly.. In this process they may loose a true friend too, which could have been. In this process of some change which a monkey thought got only thrashing and finally lost even his way to home....Even if one go out, one should keep the track on way back home...Loved the way you presented it.
