A Modern Relationship Poem by Francis Wells

A Modern Relationship

A laptop's length - one smartphone too -
I knew you first through birdsong coy.
A Jovial tease, a Fool's delight,
You came; an errant knight in white.

You came to me at night and, like
The Horse of Troy, duped entry to
My quiet life. All poised to toy
With me and dress the night in love.

We came. My heart so filled with Joy
Now feels the loss that distance brings
And curses Time; each beat a ploy
To live: that I may see my boy.
