A Missed Opportunity Poem by Naseeru Taneemu Annuree

A Missed Opportunity

Rating: 5.0

I longed to be with someone
My loneliness pinches like a hook
The consequence of being alone
Is treating me badly like a crook

There was this girl I saw behind ETF lecture hall
Her face wore a bright and charming look
She leaned, her back against the wall
And her eyes fixed firmly on a note book

Even from the distance between I can see her face
Glowing with passion than virgin's breast
I found myself breathing in a pressing pace
Her beauty left my heart with no single rest

The moment I decided to approach her
The pounding in my mind suddenly stopped
But my heart continues to beat even faster
Fear and doubt in me refused to drop

If only I were rich without scar
I would have approach her without fear
You know a rich man can own a car
With even a bike she will come near

If only I had enough pocket money
A single hi will bring her by my side
Like bees toward the smell of honey
This is the irony of life I found so deep and wide

The cloud casted a dark shadow above
The sky darkened leaving so little to behold
I felt uneasy because I knew I am in love
With a heart that is neither brave nor bold

If only I had something special to show
Before this damsel with a charming chest
I won't have let my heart descended so low
Before this lady like a dying pest...‪‬
