A Man Of Few Words Poem by RIC BASTASA

A Man Of Few Words

i wish that
today i will be a man of
few words,

and if there be fewer than a
man of few words,

i will grab it still,

but we were already born with
all the inconsistencies

i was once a small baby
with that loudest cry

my mother said when i was
still in the hospital room

perhaps this wish is nothing
but an affirmation of what i want to be
and what i am
really not.
