A Man In Winter Poem by Michael William

A Man In Winter

To be a man
in winter

is to ask yourself
if you want to kill,
if you could kill
if you had to,

if you could be gentle.

To be a man
in winter

is to ask yourself
if your veins do or do not
run with ice
and to be uncertain
whether or not you want them to.
