A Man From Mesopotamia Poem by Dr. Ramesh Chandra Mukhopadhyaya

A Man From Mesopotamia

Rating: 5.0

I asked a man from Mesopotamia

What is life

He asked me in turn

The thane of Fife had a wife

Where is she now

The rolling seas that drowned thousand ships

Of Ur Mesopotamia

And that laughed at the gasoline afire

Flung into her breast

When fire broke out in Iraq

From nothing do you come

And to nothing do you go

And what is life then?

It is like a ghost from the womb

Of nothngness

That undoes the order of things

Burning the World Trade Centre

And putting Baghdad into flames

And the n vanishes like bubbles in the air

Every man is a witch

‘Every man is a witch’ ~ Not in guise but open…why so much blood shed...so much loss of lives…indeed sometime I ponder on R.N.Tagore’s saying ~ give me back woods and take back civilization…he was much hurt in the then India ruled by British and Jaliowanabag massacre and he returned Knighthood [Sir] …now the best killer gets Noble prize …fie shame…slothful psyche when will awake? ? ? ? Thanks for sharing Regards Ms. Nivedita UK 10/10
