A Lullaby To My Godson Poem by Dean Bottomley

A Lullaby To My Godson

Be still my child and rest
The world is in safe hands.
The sun has gone to warm
Children across the sea;
And left this place in silent light,
Of moon, and rest, and sleep.

God will hold you in his hands
And keep you safe from harm.
I will help his sacred charge
To rest in peace this night.
He gave you, to bless me:
To prove he loves this world.

So sleep precious one
And I my watch will keep.
Your quiet breath will count
The seconds as they pass.
And I will send my prayers to Him;
To thank Him for that gift.

You give me hope:
You lift my heart:
To blessings till to come.
So I will watch, and let you grow.
But keep still an outstretched hand:
A home within my heart.
