A Lovely Refrain Poem by L.B. Strawn

A Lovely Refrain

A LOVELY REFRAIN

She yielded herself to each caress-
Her brown eyes glowed softly bright;
Her very self spoke, 'happiness'-
And tender was the night.

We had vowed to each our love,
And true we would remain.
With union blessed by God, above,
Our life would be a lovely refrain.

As we united to be as one,
There was little to be said,
For, in our lives, God's will was done
In the night that we were wed.
