A Love Song (In Trouble) Poem by Geoffrey Fafard

A Love Song (In Trouble)

Inspired by John Hammond's cover of Howlin Wolf's song- Riding in the moonlight.

She waited and She knew
He was coming for her
So She waited under the moon
And She waited sucking in the scent
Of evening honeysuckle and jasmine
That only bloomed for her
He was hers.She was his
From a match made outside of their control
So pure
So Complete
So forever
And She waited while her skin crept with the feel
She could touch, She knew
She could feel it, feel it
Send shivers
Through her
Right to her heart, her lungs
Her guts.

The train he sang about
Took him out just like that
On his way to her
They never met ever met never
But still she waited and waited
It was meant to be so intense-yes?
No it wasn't
It just faded and flew away
Like the black wings of
Night.
