A Life Without Pain

A life without pain
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
For me
Bed of thorns
And bed of roses
Are the same
I tread on nails
I tread on stones
I tread on fire
Yet feel them as flowers

I am born human
Your brethren
One of God's children
With hands and fingers and legs
And feet and toes and nose
Yet they disappear with age
I don't understand
What causes my nose to shrinkage?

And of fingers and toes and feet and hands
With the absence of pain
Where are they gone?
Fleshes simply rotting away
Preparing a monster on the way
Left with no fingers
Only gnarled stubs wrapped
With scars of wounds and leaking blisters
I am a freak in God's hand

I am living a life of curse
Where pain is painless
Pleasure is dullness
And life is lifeless
What wrong I have done?
That I deserve this fate unknown
Yet grateful I am to God
Who has given this life to see His world

I appeal to you my brethren
Not to call me monster as you do often
I am like you human dear
Rather a human metaphor
Of life without pain
Only I have been loaded
With this punishment to bear

And if possible spare some love
A friendly voice and smile to soothe and cheer
So that I can live rest of life with love
Grace and honour
Pity not, hate not, and hurt not
For this life of God, I wish to live the most

I thought you were describing the life of a leper...... Yes, leprosy can be an inner affliction too! If one becomes insensitive to pain and joy, life becomes dull! But this insensitivity can become noble and exalted, if seen from an austere angle! A very moving write, Deepak!

In between bed of thorn and roses life proceeds in same way shows a nice perception about life. Living for God with life with self realization is definitely aspired. Very beautifully presented every line. Nice job.
