A Letter To Elyse Poem by Alexander Downie

A Letter To Elyse

When the word comes to end what should be a fresh start,
leaving a name broken in sand, tears tear through a young heart.
Claim it back Elyse for what it was once meant,
gifts of a song to last forever, on perfect passions never spent.

Comb those lashes, brush that hair until they in moonlight shine,
flickering glances, silent pauses, a brush of skin the first real sign.
Look to the stars to lead your heart back from the desperate dank dark,
a letter to Elyse written in lost moment, a perfumed arrow quivers to its mark.
