A Letter To Ashley Poem by Jaclyn Brantley

A Letter To Ashley

There are times, I Can’t be around,
It doesn’t mean, I don’t care,
It does not mean, I wish not to be there,
It does not mean, I do not want to share,
The special moments, within your life,

It just simply means, I love you more,
How much, you will never know,
I go to bed, I wake up early,
I race down the road, to clock in on time,
Later to clock out, to do it again,
When I get home, there is little time,
For I must do it all over again

It is the little moments, I cherish so much,
Little words and little grins,
The words I love you, your first step,
Your first tooth, your first holiday,
These are the things, I miss so much,
Hopefully one day, you will understand

The little things, I must give up,
As a single parent, I do my best,
But it often feels, it’s not enough,
To show the love, I have for you,

Please always know, you are in my mind,
You are never alone, for as long as I live,
You will always be, in my mind, by my side.

Hold your head high, when others pass by,
My baby girl, you will always be,
Now do not cry, Not one little tear,
Save those tears, for happiness and joy,
Knowing all along, the strength you have shown,
The way you have walked, the lady you have become
You make me proud, the way you have grown,
