A Lesson Learned Poem by B. V. Dahlen

A Lesson Learned

Rating: 5.0

I never understood before
Just what a Mom should be.
When standing on the childhood side
It isn’t plain to see.

But Mom, I’m learning every day
The tough job that you had held,
And standing here inside your shoes
I see how you excelled.

I hope I’ve learned those lessons that
You tried so hard to teach.
I hope I’ll do this job as well.
I know I’ll have to reach

And stretch myself to do the job
Just half as well as you.
You gave me goals I’ll strive to meet,
A model I’ll pursue,

For hopefully you taught me well
Just what a Mom can be,
By simply being, all my life,
The Mom you were for me.

A stirring trbute to an apparently caring mother.I like mother poems and this is a great one.It seemed very sincere. It had a well cadenced, smooth flow and good economy of wording
