A Landscape Is Awaiting... Poem by M D Dinesh Nair

A Landscape Is Awaiting...

Rating: 4.9

The sky is very close and late sunlight is lingering
A few stars will soon search for a stay in its terrains.
The evening chants heard from a shrine solemnly rise
And a god is preparing himself for yet another sleep
An ordeal for us it is! We are doomed or not?
The silence of ours will be a blunder, friends.

A landscape in metamorphosis we can see
Look how it longs for a revival even now
But we are only dreaming, friends
As the new king too is not offering any manna
The yesterdays are soon to repeated
And the twilight is overcast by images unseen.

The ominous meet of the moon and the stars
Leaves a sigh through the pale silence of the sky
And we can hear a woman crying far
Perhaps a pack of wolves are on her
An Indian village is it. We were born there.
These men have not changed since their birth!

The stars beam and the moon hides behind clouds
And flowing magic of the night is a mystery
Don`t you see a poet penning down a song, a hymn!
In the void of reason fancies nestle there
An age of no transition it is! We have invited it.
Now it is time for a regret expressed!

Erected on an uproar of anonymity
Our lines are to be written sooner or later.
The nightly fairy tales have built so far
Only castles where we live in large number
Like a crowd gregarious and murmuring.
It is a snare and delusion again.

And the woe of the distant moon now dead
Is honoured by the stars in ecstacy
Sleep has to guard us all, we have to think so
Kissing and Nightingale are not enough for us
A hard mind we have to acquire. Can we have it?
There is a present fleeting like a train of pathos plenty.

This lost landscape may soon wither
And the beasts of the season will rule the jungle.
Our senses are soon to die
Because we have not recovered ever
And till that happens let us sing about
Buds, blossoms, spring and silvery moon!

Our hearts may later open for a change.
A landscape is awaiting, friends.

A beautiful poem. Very true said, about the harsh realities we are facing in society. We cannot expect a major change for landscape awaiting as number of trees are reducing and may be a jungle may too vanish away.

Disillusioned with society with all the horrors that can happen, but the sheer beauty of the lines that you express uplifts the content to a scale of breathtaking heights! !

The best lines of the poem...I felt is And we can hear a woman crying far.........These men haven't changed since their birth and also A hard mind we have to acquire.....Surely the things are going that way when hear and read the tragic and brutal incidents somewhere in villages where a poet cannot be a silent spectator of events against the humanity. Here the poet have shown his anger and emotions beautifully made into a poem for societal concerns and it is felt good.

When the stars beam and the moon shies away in the clouds.... can't you see the beauty of that skyscape? ? .... Why see it as ominous? Ofcourse many things undesirable happen below the canopy of the sky. When blunt truths are stated, let there be fairy tales too for a comic relief.....While jouneying in the train of pathos, let us listen to songs of nightingales once for a change! Hope the landscape that is going to open before us is green and verdant! A wonderful write.. though I disagree with the spirit of the poem! A sure 10
