A Kingdom
Only for a short time
You have been ruling this
Fragile kingdom
Just for a little while
You've been sitting on
Its throne
And I've been your
Beautiful, but distant
Queen
A bit cold, a little frail
Every man's dream but
Still a nightmare
Made your nights
Sleepless
You tried to get closer
You tried oh so hard
To make this romance
Not fall apart
But you've been too smart
Too rational
To see the fear to see my
Needs
And so you left
This kingdom of
Disregard
To reign somewhere else
On your own
But smart

(Completing the comment from below) absolute ruler can tolerate. But before this political unrest develops the writer tells us the king departs. This means the queen can now shape the court to her pleasure, create a vibrant environment of celebration and the arts, produce public works which will make even the most obdurate citizen feel pride in their kingdom. The queen's beauty and goodness will be celebrated by court poets and inspire the finest artists to join her court and transform a government into an earthly paradise.
