A Heartbeat Poem by Randy McClave

Republicans and their supporters scream
That every unborn child has a right to live,
And every fetus they say has a right to dream
That right to them we should always give.
Abortions they say should all be outlawed
And all doctors performing abortions should go to jail,
Whether here or performed anywhere abroad
Those who kill a child they say will go straight to hell.
Even if a woman is beaten and raped
Even is she is to young or impregnated from incest
Or even if in poverty clothes she is draped
Or if having the child will cause her to forever rest.
They should take those knives out of a doctor's hand
That uses them to take a child's life
And the Republicans scream that we must take a stand
From the evils of the abortionists we should take their knife.
No person they say has the God given right
To ever take a child's life away,
And for then the Republican's say they will always fight
So, they all can become adults one day.
To the Republicans this one belief I will always repeat
For abortions alone your thoughts of that are of a fool,
You forgot to mention that every schoolchild has a heartbeat
Until they are shot dead by a gun in school.
