A Heart Can Still Break Once It's Stopped Beating Poem by Alyssia Pratt

A Heart Can Still Break Once It's Stopped Beating

Rating: 3.5

I planned on creating a beautiful painting with you
Just You
the grass had already been grown
and the stem of a flower had appeared as well
But you
my so-called 'knight in shining armor'
Took the brush with your bare hands
and with your lustful feelings
Splattered red paint across the premature scenery
And I guess that was an appropriate act
Just the tainted icing that this cake needed
because I myself wasn't doing so well
My heart longed to be with someone else
and being with you only twisted the knife in my side
and your ulterior motive damaged me inside, it brought
back the pain of that one midnight with me in my
dress lying on my bedroom floor next to a letter, a
bottle of pills, a razor, and a aerosol can
Waiting to die all because of that worthless feeling
With you we had our imagination
our stories of king, queen, demons and taking over the world
blindly took over my mind
But it was only a matter of time before I'd break,
falling apart
Holding onto that feeling of worthlessness
and being truly unloved for my soul
So here I am, I let you go
But foolishly that other man still has my heart
But I have to let go of him too, so with all
the colors in the world I'll splatter them across
our canvas
because at least what we had was semi-beautiful
our canvas had grass, flowers, the sunlight, the moonlight and butterflies
Enough to make my heart smile
But I'll splatter every color I can find onto it
because our canvas took all of me emotionally
Though it never produced any reciprocation of love
so I must let you go because
'All that you loved, you loved alone'
