A Good Name Poem by Cindy Wyatt

A Good Name

A Good Name

The most valuable thing you leave behind when you are gone is your name
May it be one that brings joy and blessing to others and not shame

It takes a whole lifetime to build a good name that will hold up and last
after our pilgrim journey is over and our earthly life is in the past

Through every trial and test and labor your name is getting stronger
So it will still be used of the Lord even when you are here no longer

The poor beggar Lazarus went through much hunger, pain, and misery
but the one thing he had was a name that makes people think about eternity

The rich man wasted his life in luxury and without faith in Jesus ended up in Hell
His name perished with him and we will never know it as the bible does not tell

Yet there is truly only one name above all names that will endure forever and ever and that is the glorious name of Jesus our wonderful Lord and Saviour.

Proverbs 10: 7 The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.

Proverbs 22: 1 A GOOD name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.
