A Girl Named Samantha Poem by Erica Smith

A Girl Named Samantha

Rating: 4.5

I used to know a girl named Samantha
She was a good friend of mine
She made it seem as if I wasn't alone
She gave my thoughts reason and rhyme

I shared my insecurities and weaknesses with her
I shared stories of many kinds
But little did I know she was going to sneak up on me
And stab me from behind

So i guess I never really knew this girl
I just thought I did
But through this chaos I've reaped another lesson,
Always keep the 'real you' hid

My friend was on my computer. I am a full grown MAN in my mid 30's, I don't read poetry, and I don't want your advice or comments. How do you delete a comment?

The girl named Samantha I know is very kind, a gifted actress, but 2 years older than me. we go to the same school, and were a stage couple in Julius Caeser (Brutus and Portia) . I think she is my friend, she said she was, and that she would do anything for me, but I am not sure if she is my friend. She acts like it, and smiles and says hi to me in the hallways, and helped me when I had a mental breakdown 5 minutes before curtain. I think she is. Can someone help me?

It makes me shiver, maybe because of the same name, maybe because of the same story. Anyway, your poem is beautiful, I love it so much!

It's a cute little poem that tells the tale lucidly. I love the title, I love the text, I love the rhyme and I love the moral it leaves at the end- 'Always keep the 'real you' hid'. It's so wonderful!
