A Gentle Seige Poem by Kevin Moore

A Gentle Seige

Rating: 3.0

I long to have you understand my heart-
How it bleeds and how it hurts and how it
Yearns for solitude, lonely and apart.

The damage of my past are bitter scars
Etched deeply on my soul in bas relief-
I long for you to understand my heart.

I swore these walls once built would never start
To crumble as I hid behind their strength
And yearned for solitude, a life apart.

Then there was you and did erosion start
To eat away the walls around my soul
(I long for understanding of my heart):

Defenseless, now, I face the coming start
Of feelings I cannot control or stay
And bid farewell to solitude, apart.

Afraid and yet unable to know fear
(My walls have failed before your gentle siege) ,
I long for you to understand my heart-
No longer can I yearn for life apart.
