A Gathering Poem by Heather Burns

A Gathering

Rating: 3.6

I sat and watched clouds gathering
taking on familiar faces

I was taken back to yesterday
when as children playing together

running on the beach gathering
shells for our collections

building castles in the sand
teasing each other about tomorrow

how quickly time passes.

We must all make good use of the time that we have. Every moment should be spent with something memorable. For time waits for no man. I invite you to read Time is Short. A good write.

Time does pass quickly but only in retrospect as on the way through it goes slow, like a snail sometimes. These days it does me good to just sit quietly and let a minute pass and remember how long a minute really is as life rushes by. Time is a strange conception, man made to work out when to get up, when to travel, when to work......I'm putting it in room 101: o)))))) Ruth who hopes time won't notice her age ;)

Nostalgic. And appropo imagery: the sand, the ephemeral drifting clouds bringing back glimpses of the past. And the fleeting element of time. Thanks.
