A Friendship Awakens Poem by David Harris

Sometimes it takes many years
for a friendship to awaken.
Many heartaches lay behind in its wake
as years go tumbling by.
Then suddenly the friendship awakens
and grows and grows and grows.
Feelings extend along a path
that was never there before.
A wealth of unconditional love
opens many doors
and your arms stretch out to embrace
what should have been there before,
but will never subside again.
