A Friend Came To See Me Poem by norman hale

A Friend Came To See Me

A Friend Came To See Me

A friend came to see me
As He knocked upon my door
I invited Him right on in
I could tell He was from another shore

He said son I am proud
To call you my friend
And I have come to you
To help your heart to mend

I'm proud of your poetry
As well as that of your friends
May your pens keep on flowing
Right up to the very end

I know your pride is broken
In everything you do
But, trust in me a little more
Because, you know I'll see you through

Let me touch your shoulder
It will surely help you mend
Consider it a special gift
From your trusty friend

Know that I'll be there
Through thick and thin
So bring on those smiles
And, let this New Year begin

You know My love is eternal
No matter what others say
Allow me inside your heart
For, that's where I want to stay

Tell others as you wish
How your poems are inspired by Me
I'm sure there are quite a few
That are already able to see

So go and write these words
As I whisper them in your ear
Some will inspire many others
As time passes through the years

For now I'll leave you alone
I know you have work to do
But as you write each word down
Just remember I'll always love you
