A Fool Is Fair Game Poem by Michael P. Johnson

A Fool Is Fair Game

Wake up my friend, let shine your light
We need to take a stand
The day of Christ is now in sight
Our Bridegroom's close at hand

The church is not the only place
Where Christians show they care
But where the devil shows his face
If in God's name we dare!

The devil's loose he's on the prowl
His teeth are fletched to bite
Don't run when next you hear him howl
Stand firm in Christ and fight

The loathsome cur is sure to run
Each time we close the door
He's just no match against God's Son
Of this we can be sure

Be warned my friend, the devil's real
He's out to reap man's soul
He'll place on us his evil seal
And tempt us from our goal

Who run ahead, or lag behind
Become the devil's game
Make no mistake he's out to find
Each fool who'll bear his name

Without the Lord inside to rule
Satan, will seldom move
For evil thrives inside a fool
And has no more to prove

Be wise my friend, if Christ should call
Shout loud "My God I'm here"
The devil then will surely fall
Of this you needn't fear.
