A Flower To Auroville Mother-62 Poem by Indira Renganathan

A Flower To Auroville Mother-62

Cornflower(Bachelor's button, Centaurea cyanus)

Neither blue of the ocean
Nor the azure of the sky
Your blue what else then
One special from the sun

A gift of beauty heaven grown
A decorum-remedy in and out
Astringent, tonic, diuretic
You're celebratory corn

Narrow leaves grey-green
Alternately up the wiry stems
Striking starry blooms blue
Upon the stalks slender seen

For you're pretty like heaven born
Your brilliant blue's significant
Not a weed and not the maize
Mistaken Maize isn't you, o' corn
