'A Flower' Poem by Munia Khan

'A Flower'

Imagine a flower without petals
Surrendering fragrance still for the human heart
Sepals are crying in quest of the vitals
Adversity is there without tearing apart
Tulip, Daisy or even the aroma of a rose
All quiver in fear at the beauty of the bloom
Spruce or Pine can be there to propose
Then the pollen is ready to meet the doom
Roots in the ground are absorbing water
To solace the plant and its organism
No one's there to betray; no one's to flatter
Even Poppy yielding opium is full of optimism
Because they never doubt what man- kind believes
When the poor flower's still there smothering the leaves.
