A Finicky Creature Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

A Finicky Creature

Rating: 5.0

A finicky creature
- - - - - - - - - -
Chiming out the clock
Her musical sound
Twelve times reminds
Us, it is midday around
But the cat not ours' pet
Touches everyone's door,
Everyone's heart at this moment
Comes running from his hide out
Mewing hundred times
To remind us it's lunch time
Tinted with patches
Of white and grey and brown
On soft, thick fur
With a short snout
And retractile claws
He only eyes foods
And only for foods mews
And on him falls spites
Of many a housewife
Many a time as he cries for fish
But not without love's sunlight
As he is seen petted and fed
With a morsel of food of his wish
Thus appeased, he wags his tail
And disappears where none could guess
God's humblest being
Appears again at that moment of time
When the housewife is ready with meals
May be a little creature
God never forgets to instil
In him a sense of time to sustain
His life with a gifted meal………

The stray cats hardly get a fair treatment. Many are mad at them! If any house wife is magnanimous to give a cat one meal, it will be a regular visitor there and at the tolling of midday hour, you can surely expect him/her at your door step! Survival instinct...! ! Interesting write!
