A Faithful Friend

How many of you can find a faithful friend?
That will stick close by you unto the very end
When trouble comes they will never forsake
Always ready to give more than they will take

A friend like that is so very hard to find
One you can count on to talk and unwind
Someone that's concerned about how you feel
Cares for you deeply with a love that's real

A friend when in need is a friend indeed
Show yourself friendly by sowing the seed
How sweet are the words spoken between friends
Just like a balm that heals or a needle that mends

A friend that sticks closer than any brother
Very trustworthy and not the same as another
You can count on them to answer when you call
There to help you when your back is to the wall

    Through this poem, you have drawn an honest portrait of a true friend who is universal in its nature and appeal. Congratulations for the today's distinction. (Report) Reply

    White Tiger wrote a poem quite similar to this one. Unfortunately he has removed all his poems. This reminded me of him. Wild. (Report) Reply

    Beautiful poem. My close friends are very few and I love them, I accept them as they are. A faithful friend as you told is very difficult to get, I feel. Only thing I can do is I can be faithful to them rather than expecting anything from them. Loved the way you wrote.... (Report) Reply

    actually I can't say I have any friends which are faithful...
    not one single friend...those kinds of friends are more rare
    than Halley's comet...thanks for sharing this, and it is truly
    one of the best poems ever written on friendship... (Report) Reply

There! little girl; don't cry!
They have broken your doll, I know;
And your tea-set blue,
And your play-house, too,
Are things of the long ago;
