A Faithful Friend

How many of you can find a faithful friend?
That will stick close by you unto the very end
When trouble comes they will never forsake
Always ready to give more than they will take

A friend like that is so very hard to find
One you can count on to talk and unwind
Someone that's concerned about how you feel
Cares for you deeply with a love that's real

A friend when in need is a friend indeed
Show yourself friendly by sowing the seed
How sweet are the words spoken between friends
Just like a balm that heals or a needle that mends

A friend that sticks closer than any brother
Very trustworthy and not the same as another
You can count on them to answer when you call
There to help you when your back is to the wall

White Tiger wrote a poem quite similar to this one. Unfortunately he has removed all his poems. This reminded me of him. Wild. (Report) Reply

Beautiful poem. My close friends are very few and I love them, I accept them as they are. A faithful friend as you told is very difficult to get, I feel. Only thing I can do is I can be faithful to them rather than expecting anything from them. Loved the way you wrote.... (Report) Reply

actually I can't say I have any friends which are faithful...
not one single friend...those kinds of friends are more rare
than Halley's comet...thanks for sharing this, and it is truly
one of the best poems ever written on friendship... (Report) Reply

It's a lovely poem describing the values at the same time the meaning of a friend. In my way what I feel - If you get one friend in your life, your joy will be doubled and you pains will be reduced to half of the real one. more your real friends, more you'll be benefited. (Report) Reply

Beautiful written, deep and also very true, thak you for share! After I have found self to be robbed of trust by a dear friend, I realized (not after great suffering) that I need to quit any expectations and just try to be the friend I wished for others be for me. Life would change the priorities of each one of us. We get chained or distracted by many things. And many times when a friend is in need a heart may be ripped for not being able to help. A true friend is the most precious of all possessions! Genuine frienship is so sweet and enduring that it weathers all storms and lasts a life time! Lucky are the ones who have friends who will stand by in thick and thin! A lovely definition of true friendship and a lovely poem Patricia! ! (Report) Reply

When Nature lets the wild earth go its way,
And spend whole seasons on a single day.
The spring-time holds her white and purple dear;
