A Dying America?
Today the world awoke to a weary yet fearsome war...
The verdant Summer greens now replaced with bodies
....................of black, white and brown
....................and rivers of rolling crimson;
California, Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Minnesota dying.
Love was stomped flat into this dying Earth and replaced
..................with a blazing hatred
.............that spread it's raging, violent flames across
what was left of a nation almost completely destroyed by 'itself';
The all encompassing multiple suicide of America IS happening today
Alas, leaving a shell of what once was...
.............A ghost nation of once loving yesterdays
.............where the grass was always green
.............where flowers always bloomed
................where LOVE thrived
..........where Black & White & Brown lived as 'One'
near the rivers of rolling blue waters;

Thank you dear Sandra for your very kind words; Your comments are always appreciated by me. Yes, i know what my name means...there is a story behind it...it was my pop's middle name and both of my parents chose it, also, because, after 4 miscarriages, she carried me to term...but after my birth, rendered incapable of any more pregnancies. Therefore, they considered me, a special gift of God. i believe, that every child IS a gift of God! ! !
There are those responsible, in high places, for the shattering of this nation It is up to us the people to correct this more than deplorable situation! Thank you, Miss Onken for wrting such a poetically beautiful reminder and exposition of the true and sad situation our dear Country is in today.
i thank you again; totally agree with your summation about certain people in high places...the situation has gone past deplorable...it is an evil, heinous, grievous state of affairs. If something is not done now to curb this madness, we will completely destroy this once beautiful nation...this once highly respected nation, this once mostly peaceful nation.

It hurts to see the downfall of mankind... it's happening in so many nations across the world, not just ours..... any semblance of humanity is fast spiraling down the drain- - -yet we must hold onto the few who are steadfast, living by words like honor, love, charity, kindness no matter how degraded they are by the majority. Yes, indeed, Theodora is a special gift of God... so is Sandra... so is Tom.... so is Daniel.... so are so many who pick up the pen to do battle for the hearts and souls of young people in whose hands will be the future of earth. Love this poem, Theo. It speaks bitter truth but I pray it is not a doomed country and world that out children and grand-children will inherit. 10++++++++++++++++++
Susan, the situation is already out of hand. Something needs to be done now. Honor, love, kindness, compassion, forgiveness....are fast disappearing and being replaced by apathy, anger, rage, violence, no respect for human lives...just stoic, evil souls doing whatever they can...to kill our America. You are also, correct about other nation's. The latest act in Paris - is the slitting of a throat of a Catholic priest during a small mass a couple of days ago. It is getting to the point where i am afraid to turn on the TV or read my paper. All LIVES MATTER...and cannot even imagine what this world will be like for any grand children - - if, it is still here! If, things keep going as they are now, i believe that America will die...as a result of multiple influences...they are...Extremist Islamic Terrorists groups such as ISIS, etc. America's people continuing to turn against one another- -Black killing white and vice-versa...and the spread of the drugs that alter personality's for the worst- the very worst is Meth. The 2nd is Cocaine. Both stimulants that work on parts of the brain that cause pleasure but that also numb and stimulate that part of the brain - that beings on anger, rage, violence and homicidal tendencies. We have it in epidemic's here in Texas thanks mostly to the Mexican Drug Cartels and gangs that live right here. Yes, my name means gift of God...mom and dad picked it mostly because for them, i was their miracle..their gift from HIM. Sandra is also a gift, as is Tom B. and Daniel B., as are you Susan....Just so you know, when i pray, i ALWAYS pray for America...for today and for it's future...we need a miracle - and we needed it yesterday.
