I agree to a degree with Brian. The sand is time, and we are doomed to death regardless of our attempts to thwart it.
  Yumi Erulasse  (11/1/2006 5:48:00 PM)

This goes to show how little things like nails and hair are in life...we are the sand and god is the only one with the strength to keep us from a pitless hell.
  Brian Dorn  (7/18/2006 10:25:00 AM)

Life is like a dream, watching things happen before our eyes but unable to change the true course of nature. The tighter we clasp grains of sand in our hand the more we lose. No matter how hard we try, we have no control over the forces of nature (life and death) . To Poe, we have no real power, we simply exist until the dream is over.

I have heard about this poet but actually have never read his work. He is very interesting. Someone mentioned him on this site. I think he was a great poet for his time to be writing something so different.

The poem, and not the peom-Speaks for itself.
  Rebecca Seetahal  (6/25/2006 6:35:00 PM)

This peom just speaks for itself.

The title speaks for it's self.

This poem is so relatable. Poe is amazing! This is my favorite of Poe's.

I can never get enough of Mr. Poe. *Sigh*.

And to the lovely sweet Lenore, quoth the raven, nevermore.

It was truly a pleasure to read this one tonight. My great inspiration as a young adult was this man. Although my style is quite different, my reading style is a complete contrast to my works and is right in line with Poe's usual haunting and daunting. Thanks to whomever posted. -MCD

*makes a mental note to dust off some old volumes*
