# A Dialogue That Opened My Eyes Poem by Mamta Agarwal

# A Dialogue That Opened My Eyes

Rating: 2.5

If overcome with grief
I have come to believe,
Empathy and compassion
Are outdated, a bitter lesson

Oh sleep, dear sleep, I plea,
Please don’t abandon me,
In your soothing arms
My pain finds the balm.

'Yes, people are emotionally crippled,
Cause of all crimes and ills...
No wonder you need sleeping pills…
I’ll settle on your weary eyelids,

If you hand over your worries
Before you are about to retire,
And surrender to Him, you will see
I was waiting by your bedside.'

when you surrender to god sleep hugs you...great write mam....unfortunately people who loose sleep because there is no empathy and compassion are very rare...empathy and compassion will not give fast and popular results...as result oriented people we hide these within us

I read this poem some time back. Before I typed my comment my network went awry. After nearly 10 days I got back. A lovely poem, I love to read again and again. I too feel at one point of time nothing works to lull us; pills, alcohol even love..............even meditation.......

If you hand over your worries Before you are about to retire, And surrender to Him, you will see I was waiting by your bedside. ------- beautiful lines here...well...always surrender our problems and anxiety to the Lord when we pray before going to bed and close our eyes.........10+++

Beautiful write.....sleep is like a momentary death to escape the misery of life....and how desperate we become if that final resort is deprived to our emotional selves.......interesting write...mamta ji! ! ! ! ! !
