A Deep Woods Tranquility Poem by Alvin Schaut

A Deep Woods Tranquility

A place to go for solitude.
A summer walk, through leaves.
A winter walk, through snow.
On the way passing weathered pine stumps,
Bearing witness to logging once ago,
In silent testimonial.

A walk to a deep woods tranquility.
Soon amid the white pine trees with other trees all around.
Both small and tall, they reach up to the sky as silent sentinels.
Surrounded, a grand cathedral becoming more spectacular as time goes by.

Shade from the sun, protection from the wind.
Food from the trees, food found on the ground.
The sound of wind through the trees,
Sounds of birds and animals all around.

This forest has withstood the test of time.
For peace of mind.
Always there, a place to be.
A deep woods tranquility.
