A Deck Of Cards Poem by Irene Bitter

A Deck Of Cards

A deck of cards in gypsy's hand
Made someone's hair stand on end.
"Big fortune you will lose today"
The gypsy said.

Dazzled by the gypsy's dark flirtatious eyes
The man failed to notice
How his wallet left his pocket,
And became the gypsy's prize.

Be cautious of the hands that hold your cards
Beware of how far those hands will roll your dice
For the world is full of spindlers,
puppeteers,
Hands with suspicious tricks,
And mouths with clever lies.
