A Day Late Friend

Trust
the foundation of a relationship
and you know I trust you with my whole life
My best friend
You are my very best..
and you know I am here for you always
as you are always there for me
Which is the reason why I had to come clean
admit a crush for you bloomed
Maybe it was the wrong move
I still fight myself for waiting two years too late
for I heard the dismay in your voice
the stupidity undoubtedly directed at me
from the twin fingers of you and I
the words parted from my lips of why
why am I always the day late friend
but I guess it was never meant to be
you were never meant for me
or maybe it's all speculation for the moment
cause I hear it in your voice, the possibility
but where we stand now
distance makes it a myth
so I have no chance
still I glance at you, a glimpse
a heart around your picture, a small heart in my eyes
but I can't help
to feel glad I know you
to feel happy I shared in making you laugh
to feel joyful that even on my darkest days
in the weirdest ways you've got me to smile
So to you I say thank you
so to you I say love you
so to you I say you're always mine in my mind
so to you I say I'm here for you
so to you I say you are, you are...
You are my best friend
You are, you are...

poet John Clare

I love to see the old heath's withered brake
Mingle its crimpled leaves with furze and ling,
While the old heron from the lonely lake
Starts slow and flaps its melancholy wing,
