A Dark Night Poem by Khaleel Steir

A Dark Night

The wind howls as the storm rages on
Trees dancing and leaves celebrating
It's dangerous out there
A tree falls from dancing to hard
Everything goes silent, the house grows dark

As the family becomes aware of this new found darkness
Everything stops, no more fun and games
All the electronics become lifeless as their lifeline has been severed
The clock starts for the batteries, they won't make it till morning
Nothing to do now, but sit and wait

Hours now become minutes, time has almost stopped
Fear and loneliness have come to play
As the house creaks and whines as the storm outside sings
The kids become scared, and the parents begin to worry
This dark night has just begun and light will have to wait
