A Classy Blend Poem by Marilyn Lott

A Classy Blend

Rating: 4.7

I would peer through the fences
As I walked along the street
It seemed shade trees kind of guarded
So the folks I couldn’t meet

Why, they must be so rich I thought
Too rich for the likes of me
But I slowed down my gait
Still could mostly just see trees

I fancied myself rich too some day
When I grew up and then
Because I had so much money
I would spend and spend and spend

I would have a house much larger
Than any on this street
And I would be much friendlier
To anyone I’d meet

That was when I was just a kid
When I grew up and walked by then
I wasn’t jealous any more
But still enjoyed the classy blend!

Ah, how we do progress so as to look through the eyes of sagacity. And yet, that puerile reverie is part of what makes us who we are. An illusion to be savored. Read mine – I Cannot Return – Adeline

Hey, this on eagain is very sweet and stimulating to me. I used to intentionally drive my bicycle through a particular route because I could peep through certain houses that belonged to rich, I used to adnire their cars, plants etc and the thought of becoming that rich always crossed my mind.... I love your writing...
